CIinical Observation on Penile Carcinoma

Abstract
25 cases of penis carcinoma admitted to the Department of Urology, Yonsei University. Severance Hospital during period from Jan. 1964 to December 1973 were studied and the following results were obtained. 1. The incidence of penile carcinoma was 1.13% to total inpatients of Urologic. Department and 11.2% to total number of the male genitourinary tumor at the same period. 2. Age distribution was between 30 and 69, showing highest .incidence at 50~59 year old. 3. Most patients were engaged in agriculture (44%). commercial service (16%) and unidentified in 32%. 4. Clinical symptoms were; mass or lump 40%. sore or ulcer 44%. inguinsl lymphadenopathy 68%, swelling of penis 16%. 5. The `average duration of symptoms :on admission to the hospital was 11.3 months with highest incidence in 6 to 12 months. 6. Coexisting diseases were phimosis with balanitis 92%, syphilis 24%, gonorrhea 16% and there was each one case of leukoplakia, venereal warts and hypospadia. 7. Treatments were done with partial amputation in 32%, partial amputatioa with radiation in 20%, partial amputation with lymph node biopsy in 16%, total amputation with radiation in 28%, bleomycin with amputation in 4%.
